This is my college magazine I made at the beginning of the year.
Music Magazine
This is my Final music magazine.
Front covers
As you can see there are many differences and improvement that have happened between my college magazine and my final music magazine.
- At the beginning of the year I was introduced to Photoshop and was limited to what I could do on my college magazine. E.g. difference in mastheads. On my college magazine although it was a drop shadow, my music magazines masthead is a lot better with the outline and the gradual colour in the masthead.
- My masthead on my music magazine spreading across the page instead of keeping it centered. I have also added a slug line on my music magazine to make it more personalized.
- A difference is with the models and the models clothing. On the college magazine I have one model at the right hand side of the page she is also been stretched and not in proportion.
- On my music magazine I have 3 models taking most of the room on the page and 2 other models to cover the white space.
- Also edited the models clothing and make up on the music magazine and not on the college magazine.
- I have took pictures for my college magazine in the green room in college causing a green light round my model, So I took my pictures for my music magazine outside where lighting was a lot better.
- More thought about my costume for my music magazine for a pop magazine.
- The stories are different On my college magazine the stories are spread out and not taking up the space.
- There is also lack of stories.
- On my music magazine there is more stories and they are bigger, bolder and in shapes to stand out.
- I have also thought about different colours and different sections where as on the college magazine it is all the same colours.
- Another difference is the size of the bar code and issue number. On my college magazine it is very large and so is the issue number, where as on my music magazine it is smaller and placed in a lot better place.
- I made my music magazine a lot better is the amount of time we have to spend on it and also the amount of research I have done.
- The research has lead me to adding small things which make a lot of difference, E.g. "win!" at the top or the page numbers on the stories.
- I have also added drop shadows on the shapes of the stories to make the stories stand out. Whereas on the college magazine I have used a standard font ect.

Overall
I think I have really improved on my work from my college magazine to my music magazine. I have also improved on my technology used and my camera skills. As on my college magazine I used digital cameras (10.0 megapixals) where as on my music magazine I have used an SLR to make sure my pictures are better quality. I also think that with all my research I have done for my music magazine really helped me pick my choices for my music magazine. I also think that the time constriction that I had on my college magazine effected the quality and also my knowledge of using Photoshop and Indesign also effected it.
- I made my college content page on Indesign.
- I carried on the font from the front page but I added no effects to it.
- I also only made it small and it didn't really stand out. On my music magazine I made it a lot bigger to stand out.
- On my college magazine I only had 22 pages but on my music magazine I had a lot more.
- On my college magazine I made the font a big size and made big gaps in between each page number I also put my numbers in order but on my music magazine I have made the font smaller and put the page numbers in categories and I also put my numbers random.
- On my college magazine I put on pictures but I did no editing on the pictures. I did do different camera angles but on my music magazine I have edited the pictures and also cut them out.
- On the college magazine I have no welcome message but I do have one on my music magazine which I have found out by research that pop magazines do this to make it more personalized.
- I have also added the page numbers on the pictures on my music magazine where as on my college magazine I haven't.
- I have also added a lot more different colours on my music magazine and the layout is more compact to suit my target audience. Where as on my college magazine the layout is not as compact and a lot spare space and not as eye grabbing.
Overall
I think I have really improved on my work from my college magazine to my music magazine. I have also improved on my technology used and my camera skills.
